Once upon a time...
Clever Consulting was born as a final thesis of group of students from various european countries that at some point studied in different parts of the world. There are many countries through which this idea has travelled: United States of America, Denmark, Poland, Spain, Ireland, ...
The group was formed by experts in technology as well as in business management and marketing: MSc in Business and Technology, MSc in Telecommunications and MSc in Industrial Organization.
The idea arose due to the necessity of discovering the methodology that would be adequate to the new communication media. Our professional experience had shown us, that when internet and new technologies are used with commercial purposes, the actions taken are usually a direct implementation of offline techniques, which results in very low efficiency and waste of money and resources.
With our project, we tried do identify the factors that have major impact on the results of commercial actions taken in the internet. The idea was, that if those factors were identified and quantified, it would be possible to develop techniques allowing that the implementation of new technologies would be translated into increase in efficiency of sales and publicity. To obtain that, during one year we studied and analyzed the behavioral patterns of multitude of consumers in the internet and we formulated first guidelines that would promise the increase in the user´s response within this communication medium.
The results couldn´t be better and almost in the moment of finalizing the project we had the opportunity to put these hypothesis into practice and in this way demonstrate its functionality. We had the chance to modify the webpage of "Hoy no es un día cualquiera", a radio program broadcasted by Radio Nacional de España (Spanish National Radio). The program organized an action that aimed at collecting users´signatures. The results of implemented changes were astonishing - since the day after implementing proposed ideas the number of collected signatures started growing exponentially.
What started as an academic project, quickly came to reality. Due to the success of the project, we decided to develop the business plan and participate in the contest "I Competición de Jóvenes Emprendedores Universitarios" (I Competition of Young Entrepreneurs), organized by two foundations: Junior Achievement and the Fundación Universidad Empresa.
On 7th May 2009 after primary round of presentations we gained first position and we were able to collaborate with Deloitte, company that decided to sponsor our project since the first moment. The national victory opened wide range of opportunities, like representing Spain and Universidad Europea de Madrid in Enterprise Challenge, the European contest of young entrepreneurs that took place in Denmark in June 2009.
Since that moment we successfully dedicated ourselves to consulting companies in order to efficiently integrate new technologies into their communication strategies - the work we enjoy and that allows us the contact with two worlds that we consider fascinating: the world of new technologies as well as the world of sales and business management. Additionally, we are currently members of the board of directors of the association Junior Achievement Alumni and we have participated in numerous events and fora, such as the conference regarding entrepreneurship in the Facultad de Psicología de la UNED (Madrid, 14th July 2009) during which we made a speech on creative entrepreneurship.
Motivation
Starting a business is never easy and the fears and doubts are huge enemies of entrepreneurship. If there is anything that encouraged us to leave behind all our worries and to face this adventure, surely was the emotional story of William Kamkwamba, young entrepreneur from Malawi, who despite of enormous shortage of resources was able to construct with his own hands a wind mill, that now delivers electricity to his whole village.
Because it is necessary to make this world a better place to live and because in the end it is with benefit to all of us, that youngsters such as William have resources to explore their potential, intelligence and creativity, we donate a part of our benefits to a non-profit organization África Directo in order to help their programs of developments in Malawi. To show our respect to William, his eagerness to work and become better, our logo consists of an elephant, the typical animal from his country. More information about William can be found in the blog of Kurioso and in the following video:
